What it is
A machine technique that builds a soft shaded effect through the brow rather than individual strokes. The finish reads like a gently pencilled or powdered brow, and it holds well across a wider range of skin types than microblading.
How it works
Pigment is layered gradually to build density, usually darker at the tail and softer at the front. Because the pigment is dispersed rather than placed in lines, it tends to age more evenly.
Good fit for
- Oily or combination skin, which often holds shading better than strokes
- Anyone who wears brow make-up and wants that look without the daily routine
- Brows needing more density than stroke work alone can provide
Suitability is assessed individually at consultation. Some treatments are not appropriate for everyone.
Your treatment journey
- Consultation covering shape, colour, your daily look and anything in your medical history that affects suitability.
- Shape and colour mapped and agreed with you before any pigment is used.
- The appointment itself, with numbing applied throughout.
- Healing over four to six weeks, during which the colour changes considerably.
- A touch-up appointment at around four weeks to refine the healed result.
Results and what to expect
The healed result is noticeably softer than day one. Powder brows generally last longer than microblading — often around eighteen months to two years — but this varies with skin, sun exposure and skincare.
Safety and common effects
Most people notice some of the following. They are temporary and expected rather than a problem:
- Swelling and tenderness for one to three days
- Colour appearing much darker and sharper than the final result for the first week
- Flaking and patchiness between days five and ten
- A period around week two to three where the colour looks too light before it settles

Aftercare
Keep dry as instructed, do not pick, avoid swimming, saunas and heavy sweating, and keep the area out of the sun while healing.

Common questions
Will it look harsh or blocky?
It should not. Density and gradient are built up gradually and agreed with you. Tell your practitioner how soft or defined you want it.
How is it different from microblading?
Microblading places individual hair-like strokes; powder brows build a soft shaded fill. Powder generally suits oily skin better and tends to last longer.
How long does it last?
Often eighteen months to two years before a refresh, though this varies considerably between individuals.
Can I combine it with strokes?
Yes — microblading plus shading is offered as its own option and is priced separately.
Does it hurt?
Numbing is used throughout and most people find it very manageable.
When will it look normal?
Roughly two weeks for the surface to settle, and four to six weeks for the true colour to appear.
